Blog 20/ New Year, Part II: What I’m Carrying Forward and What I’m Leaving

Happy New Year and New Beginnings.

As the year takes shape, I’m noticing what feels natural to hold—

and what feels heavy to keep dragging along.

Not everything needs to come with me.

Some things earned their place through growth, truth, and alignment.

Others served their purpose and quietly reached their end.

I’m learning that leaving something behind doesn’t dishonor what it once meant.

It simply honors who I am now.

This year, I’m carrying forward what sustains me—

faith that steadies me,

work that aligns with my values,

rest that doesn’t require explanation,

and relationships that feel reciprocal, not demanding.

I’m leaving behind what no longer fits the life I’m building.

The urgency.

The over-explaining.

The habit of carrying what was never mine to hold.

There is clarity in choosing lightly.

In protecting peace without apology.

In allowing discernment to guide decisions instead of obligation.

I don’t need to name everything I’m releasing.

What’s leaving already knows.

What’s coming forward feels quieter, but stronger.

Less performative.

More grounded.

This year, I’m not trying to prove anything.

I’m choosing what stays.

And trusting God with what doesn’t.
